Frank Warner Riepe's Building Arts studio has specialized
in custom residential architecture since 1985. Prior to that time
he practiced civic and commercial architecture with major Boston-area
architectural firms specializing in restoration, transportation
facilities, multi-family housing and restaurants.
Frank holds a Master of Architecture degree from Tulane University. A registered architect in Massachusetts, he is a member of the American Institute of Architects, Boston Society of Architects, and the Congress for the New Urbanism. He has received national recognition through competitions and publications.
In the Town of Sudbury, Frank served for twenty years as a member of the Design Review Board and is currently a member of the Historic Districts Commission and the Sudbury Center Improvement Advisory Committee. He was a founding member of the Sudbury Village Project and served as a member of the building committee for the Goodnow Library and the designer selection committee for the Sudbury Housing Authority.
Around New England, the work of Building Arts includes
new homes as well as additions and remodeling, where
the success of each project is revealed in the details
of design and service. The practice
of architecture is both an art and a craft in the
service of individual clients and the community.
Each project is a unique effort founded on
an ever broadening experience and ever deepening
insights with services tailored to the needs of the
client. In each project it is essential that
certain issues be explored and satisfied: site, context
and integration...graceful accommodation of daily
activities...craftsmanship and durability...economy...delight
for the imagination and the senses...social responsibility
and integrity.
A client wrote: "You had a great ability to ask
about what we wanted and to understand those desires
in order to propose a solution. Your design capabilities
were excellent, producing a design
that...exceeded what we thought could be accomplished..."
Whether working on a rural vacation home or an urban
townhouse, Frank collaborates with his clients to
find excitement in each project. "My work is designing interesting houses
for interesting people."

GREEN DESIGN
Every project must be designed and built with a conscience. Issues
including resource depletion, pollution, energy
conservation and community responsibility must
be a part of every building program.
